an inexcusably long post on slang

I just realized... This is fifty years in the future. There's gonna be slang all over the place. I'll try to get out of the team using it so much, but let's recap...

SUCCESSFUL USES OF SLANG )

Oh goodness, it has turned into a tribute.

He also included, in his 'insider's guide to the world of Uglies', how to make good slang. You're gonna shoot me for this, but I'm gonna copy it down here so I can get it all stuck in my head. This is all Scott Westerfeld, not me.

Slanguage, by Scott Westerfeld )

How does that affect me? Or even more important, to you at least, how does that affect you?

Well, first and foremost, if you have any sort of novel in which new slang might be relevant, this might end up being useful.

But as for the initial reason I posted this... Wow, can you believe I initially just posted this to list off and keep track of the slang I wanted to use?

Some ideas I have:

tech: [adj.] cool, awesome, rad. "That move was totally tech."
{notes: This is the future. Technology is gonna be huge.}
dismal: [adj.] bad, horrible, unfortunate. "That was some dismal luck, man."
{notes: It seems that mundane words become slang, so often. Lame, for one example.}

Other words to maybe work in:

baseline (opposite of 'advanced' or 'enhanced'), and... Oh darn, my others aren't solid enough to even put here. Hahah...

Now for you guys. Any ideas? Suggestions? It'd probably help if you knew my novel, but that's a pretty long story, so if I've not told you yet... Well, even blind suggestions are amazing.
